I know it’s expensive, but the end result is great. Here you are!! Valspar V700 is a premium durable product available in matte, medium gloss and silk. Avoid using Valspar V500 on bright colors or you may need to apply additional coats. Transparency is non-existent in certain colors and a nightmare in reds and blues.

You will use this color for interior walls and ceilings and the finish is good. V500 is a durable emulsion available in clay or silk. This is an excellent product!! The Valspar V500 is a big step up from the Valspar Simplicity. Valspar plain is a very poor quality paint and should be avoided at all costs. This old cliché comes up when buying paint: “You get what you pay for.” In this case, it is correct. Plus, you can literally wipe the paint off the wall, even after it’s completely dry. Flash and framing photos can be a nightmare when using bright colors. The simplicity of Valspar is also not very durable and the finish can be very complex. The opacity is low and several coats of this paint may be necessary to properly cover the wall. Valspar Simplicity is a very affordable matte emulsion with very few polymer binders, similar to solid matte. I thought I would start at the low end of the product scale and work my way up. This is my Valspar paint review and guide. Not all of us are poor at customer service,i hope you manage to get it sorted,as i am just a customer service adviser i dont know where you can go from here. But i hope my explaination helps you understand WHY it was different.I will be using this blog to give you my brutally honest opinion, as a decorator, on all Valspar products available. The store you bought the paint from should have explained this, because it is not simply just adding the multipler of colourants from the tester to a 5ltr,as a tester pot is 236 ml and a 5 litre is 5,000 mls which is roughly 21.186 times the size, the computer needs to work out the colourants from the original testerpot, which is recorded on the other store.the store you went to SHOULD have made you aware of this, plus rescanning in a diff store with maybe different lighting and wether they clean scanner or not will give a different 'shade' as well.i am sorry you feel mis-informed,i work on paint section IN b&q ,and i would have explained this to you BEFORE mixing the paint. The other store would not have the custom colour on there computer as the computers are not interlinked. HI,FIRST OF ALL THE ORIGINAL STORE,SHOULD HAVE saved THE COLOUR MADE UP,AS IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A CUSTOM COLOUR. Or non-premiuim Valspar - I wouldn't go lower quality than what they call Premium because the amount of extra work and paint required to get a good finish is a false economy. I have not tried the dark colours however. I think Valspar is better in terms of the depth of colour and finish and durability. However, it also has a cheap, plasticky finish and low solids/ poor quality pigment so the colour has a 'Dulux' look to it. You can slap it on most surfaces with a three foot broom and it will cover the wall and dry an even colour which is all most people want. I would suggest even the Premiuim requires a priming step on all but recently painted in a light colour surfaces.ĭulux is a very forgiving paint which is why it's so popular with the occasional painter/DIY market. I have seen a lot of bad reviews of Valspar online, but in general, it seems to be people who don't want to do priming etc or invest in decent tools and prep that will allow them to get the paint on quick enough to allow for the shorter open time. More pigment requires better binders to ensure good hiding and even finish, so it's more of a challenge for a cheap paint. I would never get a dark colour in a non-premium paint (meaning Little Greene/Mylands/Mythic etc not Valspar Premium!).
